Resurfacing Project to Begin on Route 87 in Fairfield Township, Lycoming County

Montoursville, PA – Motorists are advised a resurfacing project will begin next week on Route 87 in Montoursville Borough, Fairfield Township, Upper Fairfield Township, and Plunketts Creek Township, Lycoming County.

On Monday, July 1, 2024, the contractor, Glenn O. Hawbaker will begin ditch cleaning along Route 87 between Interstate 180 overpass in Montoursville Borough and the Pier 87 Bar and Grill.

Motorists can expect single lane conditions with flagging where work is being performed. Work at the Montoursville Borough end of the project, between Interstate 180 and Snyder's Country Pet Food, will be performed at night between the hours of 9:00 P.M. and 6:00 A.M. Work north of Snyder's Country Pet Food will be performed between the hours of 6:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M.

Motorists should be alert, slow down, expect delays in travel, and drive with caution through the work zone.

Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc., is the prime contractor for this $2.6 million resurfacing project. Work includes milling and resurfacing of the roadway, base repairs, drainage work, guide rail and sign upgrades. The project is anticipated to be completed in the fall of 2024, weather permitting.
