Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing that Route 218 (Morgan Street) will close Tuesday morning, August 20, between Route 19/21 (East High Street) and East First Street in Waynesburg Borough, Greene County.
Crews from Gulisek Construction will be working around the clock to reconstruct and repave Route 218 (Morgan Street) at Route 19 (Greene Street) to East Lincoln Street. The closure is anticipated until Friday, August 30, and all work depends on weather and operations.
Posted detours will be in place for Morgan Street:
- Southbound
- RIGHT onto High Street.
- LEFT onto Richhill Street.
- LEFT onto First Street.
- RIGHT onto Morgan Street.
- Northbound heading WEST
- LEFT onto First Street.
- RIGHT onto Morris Street.
- RIGHT onto High Street.
- LEFT onto Morgan Street.
- Northbound heading EAST
- LEFT onto First Street
- RIGHT onto Morris Street.
- LEFT onto High Street.
- LEFT onto Richhill Street.
- LEFT onto Greene Street.
- Proceed eastward on Route 19/21 (Greene Street).
Motorists are asked to use caution and allow extra travel time. Safety is everyone's responsibility.
This work is part of the $11.8M Waynesburg Betterment Project to ensure a safe and efficient route for all modes of transportation through Waynesburg's downtown business district. Construction consists of new foundation and conduit installation for the new traffic signals, roadway reconstruction and repaving, and existing ADA ramp replacement. Completion is anticipated in October.
