Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing that reconstruction of the Greene Street (Route 19/21) and Richhill Street (Route 19) intersection is scheduled to begin Monday morning, June 3, in Waynesburg Borough, Greene County.

A single-lane restriction will be in place on Greene Street (Route 19/21) between Spring Street and Blackberry Alley, and a short section of South Richhill Street will be closed between Greene Street (Route 19/21) and West South Street.

Traffic will be controlled by flagging in the work zone and posted detours will be implemented for South Richhill Street.

Passenger cars:

Crews from Gulisek Construction will be working around the clock to rebuild the existing sidewalks and replace the roadway with 11 inches of concrete, providing an improved surface to accommodate heavy truck traffic. Construction in the Richhill Street area is anticipated through early July.

This work is part of the $11.8M Waynesburg Betterment Project, to ensure a safe and efficient route for all modes of transportation through the downtown Waynesburg business district. Completion is anticipated in October.

With flagging operations in place, motorists are asked to use caution while driving through the work zone and allow extra travel time. Safety is everyone's responsibility.
