Project Location Map

Overview

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announces a Plans Display for the preservation of the SR 2071 (Good Road) bridge over West Branch of Toms Run in Lower Chanceford Township, York County.

This project involves replacing the existing bridge superstructure along with upgrading roadside safety features.    The existing two span steel beam superstructure will be replaced with a new two span pre-stressed concrete spread box beam bridge with concrete deck. The proposed work will also include new abutment and pier seats, rebuilding two stone wingwalls and new barriers. There will also be roadway approach work involving paving on both sides of the bridge to provide a smooth transition to the new bridge deck surface along with guide rail installation. Acquisition of temporary construction easement will be required on the west side of the bridge and on the east side for contractor access to complete the work.

Currently SR 2071 is closed to traffic between SR 2040 (Frosty Hill Rd) and State Route 74 with a detour in place.  This detour will continue to be utilized during construction utilizing SR 2073 (Ted Wallace Road), which is a 3.5 mile detour.  Please refer to the project’s Detour Map graphic.
The project is scheduled to be bid for construction in May of 2025 however construction is estimated to take place in the Spring/Summer 2025 construction season.  The estimated construction cost is $1,200,000.
