Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing that the Interstate 79 South (Raymond P. Shafer Highway) on-ramp from Route 21 (Roy E. Furman Highway) is scheduled to temporarily close in Franklin Township, Greene County.
The ramp will be closed on Saturday, July 20, from 12:00 AM to 4:00 PM (16 continuous hours) and potentially again on Saturday, July 27, during the same timeframe.
Crews from Gulisek Construction will be conducting concrete pavement patching and rehabilitation. All work depends on weather and operations.
A posted detour will be in place.
- Stay on Route 21 West, past the I-79 interchange.
- Turn left onto Route 19 South (Mount Morris Road).
- Turn left onto Route 2026 East (Rolling Meadows Road).
- Turn right onto Route 2011 South (Garards Fort Road).
- Stay on Route 21 East, past the I-79 interchange.
- Turn right onto Route 2026 West (Rolling Meadows Road).
- Turn left onto Route 2011 South (Garards Fort Road).
- Follow Garards Fort Road, approximately 7 miles.
- Turn right onto Route 2018 (Kirby Road).
- Reach the I-79 interchange at Kirby Road.
Remain alert and follow the posted signs and speed limits. Safety is everyone's responsibility.
This work is part of the $4.9 million Route 21 East of Waynesburg concrete patching project. The full scope includes concrete patching, dowel retrofit, cross stitching, spall and mountable curb repair, milling and resurfacing, high friction surface treatment, inlet tops replacement, guide rail, signal upgrades, delineation, and signing. The full job – which will require long-term single-lane restrictions – is anticipated to continue through October 2024.
