Interstate 79 at Route 21 Ramps Closed Next Two Saturdays in Greene County

Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing that two ramps at the Interstate 79 (Raymond P. Shafer Highway) and Route 21 (Roy E. Furman Highway) interchange are scheduled to temporarily close the next two Saturdays in Franklin Township, Greene County.

  • I-79 North, Exit 14 off-ramp to Route 21 (Masontown/Waynesburg) and
  • I-79 North on-ramp from Route 21 

will be closed from 12:00 AM to 4:00 PM (16 continuous hours) on Saturday, June 22, and again on Saturday, June 29.

Crews from Gulisek Construction will be conducting concrete pavement patching and rehabilitation. All work depends on weather and operations.

Posted detours will be in place for:

  • I-79 North, Exit 14:
    • Stay on I-79 North.
    • Take Exit 19 (Route 221/to 19, Ruff Creek/Jefferson).
    • Turn left onto Route 221 North (Lippencott Road).
    • Turn right onto Route 19 North (Washington Road).
    • Turn right at the on-ramp for I-79 South.
    • Take Exit 14.
  • I-79 North from Route 21:
    • Turn left if eastbound/right if westbound onto Route 188 East (Jefferson Road).
    • Turn left onto Route 221 North (Lippencott Road).
    • Turn right at the on-ramp for I-79 North. 

Remain alert and follow the posted signs and speed limits. Safety is everyone's responsibility.

This work is part of the $4.9 million Route 21 East of Waynesburg concrete patching project. The full scope includes concrete patching, dowel retrofit, cross stitching, spall and mountable curb repair, milling and resurfacing, high friction surface treatment, inlet tops replacement, guide rail, signal upgrades, delineation, and signing. The full job – which will require long-term single-lane restrictions – is anticipated to continue through October 2024.
