​Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing that reconstruction of the Greene Street (Route 19/21) and Richhill Street (Route 19) intersection is ongoing, with a scheduled shift in the work zone starting the week of Monday, June 17, in Waynesburg Borough, Greene County.

A single-lane restriction on Greene Street (Route 19/21) between Spring Street and Blackberry Alley will continue, but South Richhill Street will close between Greene Street (Route 19/21) and West High Street (Route 19/21).

Traffic will be controlled by flagging in the work zone and posted detours will be implemented for South Richhill Street. Motorists are asked to use caution while driving through the work zone and allow extra travel time. Safety is everyone's responsibility.

Passenger vehicles:

• South Richhill Street.
• Greene Street.
• South West Street.
• West High Street (Route 21).
• North Richhill Street (Route 19). 

Commercial trucks:

• Route 18 (Browns Creek Road/Prosperity Pike).
• Route 221 (Plum Sock Road/Dunn Station Road).
• Interstate 79 (Raymond P. Shafer Highway).
• Route 21 (East Roy Furman Highway).
• Route 19 (East High Street). 

Crews from Gulisek Construction will be working around the clock to rebuild the existing sidewalks and replace the roadway with 11 inches of concrete, providing an improved surface to accommodate heavy truck traffic. Construction in the Richhill Street area is anticipated through early July. All work depends on weather and operations.

This work is part of the $11.8M Waynesburg Betterment Project, to ensure a safe and efficient route for all modes of transportation through the downtown Waynesburg business district. Construction currently consists of new foundation and conduit installation for the new traffic signals, roadway reconstruction and repaving, and existing ADA ramp replacement. Completion is anticipated in October.
