Route 711 Crawford Avenue/McCray Robb Bridge Closes Tuesday in Fayette County

Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing that the Route 711 Crawford Avenue/McCray Robb Bridge, between First Street and Arch Street, will close Tuesday, Jan. 9 in the City of Connellsville, Fayette County. Adjoining sections of Arch Street, Dean Street, and Water Street at the bridge will also be closed.

Crews from Mosites will be rehabilitating the structure that carries Route 711 (West Crawford Avenue) over the Youghiogheny River. The bridge will remain closed until its anticipated completion in late 2024, depending on weather and operations. 

Posted detours will be place.

Crawford Avenue:

    • Westbound
      • East on Route 711 (West Crawford Avenue).
      • Left on Pittsburgh Street.
      • Left on southbound Route 119 (Memorial Boulevard/North Eighth Street).
      • Left on eastbound Route 711 (West Crawford Avenue).
    • Eastbound
      • West on Route 711 (West Crawford Avenue).
      • Right on northbound Route 119 (North Eighth Street/Memorial Boulevard).
      • Right on Pittsburgh Street.
      • Right on Route 711 (West Crawford Avenue). 

Dean Street:

    • North Meadow Lane to
    • West Apple Street to
    • Water Street.
    • Or the reverse. 

Arch Street:

    • West Peach Street to
    • Pittsburgh/South Pittsburgh Street to
    • West Cedar Avenue.
    • Or the reverse.

Water Street:

    • West Apple Street to
    • Pittsburgh Street to
    • West Cedar Avenue to
    • South Arch Street to
    • Fairview Avenue.
    • Or the reverse.

Shuttle service is available for pedestrians who walk or bike the bridge. Planned shuttle stops are on West Crawford Avenue at North Meadow Lane and West Crawford Avenue at First Street. Arrangements can be made by calling 724.317.1428.

The $11.5 million investment will replace the superstructure, widen the roadway, and add a shared-use path, allowing for safe pedestrian and bicycle access. The bridge separates the east and west sides of Connellsville and is a critical component of the community. This project will extend the life of the structure, improve safety, and significantly benefit the needs of residents.
