One lane of the new bridge that carries Route 318 over Interstate 376 and the eastbound ramps are opened to traffic in West Middlesex, Mercer County.
The westbound lane of the Route 318 bridge opened today. Eastbound traffic will continue to use the detour, which is posted using Route 18 and I-376.
The eastbound on and off ramps for I-376 at Exit 1C (Route 318, West Middlesex) reopened August 22, 2024. The westbound off ramp is also open.
The westbound on ramp is closed as work continues to raise the profile of the roadway to meet the higher vertical clearance of the new bridge.
The Route 318 bridge was closed in December 2023 after being struck by the boom of a truck traveling eastbound on I-376 and sustaining substantial damage. An emergency project was initiated to remove and replace the bridge.
The westbound lane of the new bridge and the westbound on ramp for I-376 are expected to reopen this fall.
