Alternative Fuel Corridor (AFC) Funding Rounds
PennDOT completed three funding rounds, over the course of 2023 and 2024, to identify and construct charging station projects that fill gaps along Pennsylvania's Alternative Fuels Corridors. A total of 91 active NEVI projects in 43 counties are now in varying stages of implementation. PennDOT's Active NEVI Awards Tracker displays the real-time status of these projects.
PennDOT is now focused on receiving “Fully Built Out" status from the Federal Highway Administration so PennDOT can use remaining NEVI funds for a larger variety of charging station project types. PennDOT NEVI Round 1B
PennDOT's NEVI Round 1B Funding Opportunity began accepting online proposals on May 13, 2024 and closed on July 10, 2024 (excluding the Round 1B Addendum corridor-group 70B, which closed on August 2, 2024). PennDOT announced the NEVI Round 1B conditional awards for 10 projects in 9 counties on August 15, 2024.

PennDOT NEVI Round 1
PennDOT released the NEVI Round 1 funding opportunity on January 6, 2023 (updated March 13, 2023) and closed the program on May 5, 2023.
PennDOT has since announced NEVI Round 1 conditional awards for 52 projects in 34 counties to expand access to and reliability of electric vehicle charging in Pennsylvania.
