The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is developing plans for a bridge over Miller Run replacement project on Route 1021 (School Road) in Shade Township, Somerset County. For those interested in learning more about this project, a public plans display is scheduled for Tuesday, November 19, 2024, from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM at Cairnbrook Elementary School located at 235 McGregor Avenue, Cairnbrook, PA, 15924.
The scope of this work will include replacement of the existing steel girder bridge that carries Route 1021 (School Road) over a tributary to Miller Run with a new precast reinforced concrete box culvert. New guide rail will be installed along the upstream and downstream sections of the new culvert. Approach roadway work and new drainage will also be completed.
A 14.7-mile traffic detour is recommended for the duration of the work. A map of the planned route will be displayed at the meeting.
The purpose of this meeting is to provide the public an opportunity to review and comment on the proposed projects. Representatives from PennDOT will be available to answer questions and receive comments regarding the projects. The comments of all individuals, groups or organizations are welcome. Anyone with knowledge of historic resources in these project areas should attend the meeting.
The meeting location is accessible to persons with disabilities. Anyone having special needs or requiring special aid is asked to contact the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation prior to the meeting. If you require additional information concerning the meeting, please contact Andrew Keirn, P.E., PennDOT District 9-0 Project Manager, at (814) 696-7299.
