Milling Operations Start Next Week on Derry Street (Route 3012) in the Harrisburg Area

​Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today a milling is scheduled to begin next week on a nearly 2.5-mile safety improvement project on Derry Street (Route 3012) in the City of Harrisburg, Paxtang Borough and Swatara Township, Dauphin County.

Weather permitting, milling operations will begin, Monday, September 16. This work will be performed during daylight hours with single lane closures under flagging. 

Residences and businesses within the project limits should be aware that parking restrictions will be implemented at various locations along Derry Street. No Parking signs will be in place prior to the restrictions going into effect.

After milling is complete, the contractor will perform final paving and line painting. This work is expected to take several weeks to complete.

This project consists of milling, paving, base replacement, signs, pavement markings, ADA ramps, pedestrian facility improvements at 19th Street and 21st Street intersections, and other miscellaneous construction on Derry Street from 13th Street in the City of Harrisburg through Paxtang Borough to Rosewood Lane in Swatara Township, Dauphin County.

Motorists should be alert and drive with caution through the work zone.

JVI Group, Inc., of York Springs, PA, is the contractor on this $2,590,173 project. All work is expected to be completed by December 3, 2024.
