Bridge Superstructure Replacement Project to Begin on Wago Road in York County

09/06/2024

Weekend closure planned

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that a bridge superstructure replacement project is set to begin next week on Wago Road (Route 1019) in East Manchester Township, York County. The bridge is located between the entrance to the Brunner Island Power Plant and the Conewago Creek Recreation Area.

Weather permitting, work will begin Wednesday, September 11. A weekend closure is planned for 12:01 AM Saturday, September 14, to 6:00 AM Monday, September 16, so the bridge can be placed in a long-term single-lane traffic pattern. Temporary signals will be in place to allow alternating directions of traffic to cross the bridge.

A detour will be in place during the closure using Wago Road, Main Street, Route 921, Route 181 and Landvale Street.

Three more weekend closures are planned for this project. Updated press releases will be issue prior to each closure.

This project consists of a superstructure replacement and other miscellaneous construction.

Charles J. Merlo, Inc., of Mineral Point, PA, is the contractor on this $3,863,000 project.

All work is expected to be completed by October 14, 2025.
