Rescheduled: Large Pipe Replacement Project to Begin on Route 944 (Wertzville Road) in Cumberland County

An approximately two-week detour will be in place

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that a large pipe replacement project on Route 944 (Wertzville Road) in Cumberland County, has been rescheduled. 

The pipe, which is located between Peacock Drive and Deer Lane in Middlesex Township, was initially expected to be replaced beginning Monday, July 29. Work is now expected to begin on Wednesday, August 7, or Thursday, August 8.

The road will be closed at the pipe. A detour will be in place using Route 34, Route 11 and Rich Valley Road (Route 1009).

Work is expected to last about two weeks, after which the detour will be lifted and the road open to traffic.
