Nighttime Lane Restrictions Next Week on I-83 in Swatara Township, Dauphin County

​Contractor to trim trees at overhead message boards

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that there will be nighttime lane restrictions next week on Interstate 83 so a contractor can trim trees around overhead message boards between Exit 45 (Paxton Street/Bass Pro Drive) and 29th Street in Swatara Township, Dauphin County.

Weather permitting, this work will be performed from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM the nights of Monday, July 29, through Friday, August 2. There will be right lane closures in both directions of I-83 during work hours. 

Motorists should be alert and drive with caution through the work zone.

This work is part of a project to maintain or repair Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) equipment in multiple counties in the PennDOT District 8 south central Pennsylvania region, as well as elsewhere in the state.

Kuharchik Construction, Inc., of Exeter, PA, is the contractor on this $5,583,518 project. All work on this contract is expected to be completed by July 2, 2027.
