Contractor to install new traffic signal mast arms; there will be intermittent stoppages

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that there will traffic restrictions tonight at the intersection of Centerville Road and Marietta Avenue (Route 23) in East Hempfield Township, Lancaster County. There will be intermittent stoppages at the intersection so a contractor can install new traffic signal mast arms and remove some of the temporary signals currently in place.

Weather permitting, this work will be performed from 7:00 PM tonight, Thursday, July 25, to 6:00 AM tomorrow, Friday, July 26. The signals at the intersection will be placed on flash. There will be stoppages of up to 15 minutes when the mast arms are put in place. Flaggers will direct traffic through the intersection at all other times.

Motorists should seek alternate routes as this will cause delays.

This work is part of the Centerville Road Interchange Improvement project, which consists of structure replacement, Superpave overlay, base replacement, roadway widening, milling, guiderail improvements, drainage improvements, pavement markings, ADA improvements, traffic signal improvements, and other miscellaneous construction.

The project includes work on Centerville Road from Cornerstone Drive to Marietta Avenue (Route 23), and Marietta Avenue from Centerville Road to Stony Battery Road. The project is primarily located in East Hempfield Township, though the section from Cornerstone Drive to Columbia Avenue is in Manor Township.

JD Eckman, Inc., of Atglen, PA is the prime contractor on this $36.3 million project. Work is expected to be completed by July 22, 2025.
