Ramp Closure Tonight at Pavement Preservation Project on Route 222 in Lancaster County

07/23/2024

Traffic to be detoured to Ephrata/Route 322

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that a ramp closure is scheduled for tonight at the 3.3-mile pavement preservation project on Route 222 in Manheim, Warwick, and West Earl townships, Lancaster County.

The contractor is planning to close the northbound Route 222 off-ramp at the Brownstown/Rothsville/Route 772 exit in West Earl Township for milling. The ramp is expected to be closed at approximately 11:00 PM tonight, Tuesday, July 23, and reopen tomorrow, Wednesday, July 24, by 6:00 AM.

A detour will be in place. Northbound traffic should continue north to the Ephrata/Route 322 exit, then return south on Route 222 to the Brownstown/Rothsville/Route 772 exit.

Milling in the northbound lanes will continue nightly from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM. This will require nighttime lane restrictions.

There will periodic overnight closures of the ramps at the Route 772 (Brownstown/Rothsville) Interchange. Updates will be issued prior to any ramp closures.

This project consists of bituminous resurfacing, full-width milling, base repair, concrete patching, guide rail updates, line painting, and sign updates on northbound and southbound Route 222 from the Bushong Road overhead bridge to the Pool Road overhead bridge.

Work in the northbound direction, including the northbound ramps at the Route 772 Interchange, is expected to be completed this year. Work in the southbound direction, including the southbound ramps at the interchange, is expected to be completed next year.

Motorists should be alert and drive with caution through the work zone.

New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company, Inc., of New Enterprise, PA, is the contractor on this $8,486,591 project.

All work is expected to be completed October 20, 2025.
