Closure Planned for Sunday on Prospect Road in Lancaster County

Contractor to apply high friction surface treatment on Prospect Road at Fairview Drive in West Hempfield Township; work to begin at approximately 5:00 PM

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that Prospect Road (Route 4001) is scheduled to be closed this Sunday evening in West Hempfield Township, Lancaster County, so a contractor can apply a high friction surface treatment to the roadway at the intersection with Fairview Drive.

Weather permitting, Prospect Road will be closed between Ironville Pike and Marietta Avenue (Route 23) beginning at 5:00 PM Sunday, June 30. The road is expected to reopen no later than 6:00 AM Monday, July 1. A detour will be in place using Ironville Pike and Marietta Avenue.

This work is part of a safety improvement project on multiple routes in Lancaster County that began in April. 

The project consists of high friction surface treatment, asphalt resurfacing, line painting, advanced warning markings, and sign updates on the following routes:

Route 72 between Mount Hope Road and Pinch Road in Rapho Township.
Route 241 between Ridgeview Road and Koser Road in Mount Joy Township.
Route 324 between Red Hill Road and East Loop Road in Martic Township. 
Route 897 between Stone Hill Road and Gehman School Road in Brecknock Township.
North Ridge Road (Route 1045) from just south of Resh Road to Mill Road in West and East Cocalico townships. 
Reinholds Road (Route 1055) between Bonview Drive and Smokestown Road in East Cocalico Township. 
Millport Road (Route 2036) between Eshelman Road and River Bend Park Road in West Lampeter Township.
Donerville Road (Route 3031) between Weaver Road and Habecker Church Road in Manor Township. 
Prospect Road (Route 4001) between Ironville Pike to just north of Fairview Road in West Hempfield Township.

RAM Construction Services of Michigan, Inc., of Livonia, MI, is the contractor on this $727,504 project.

All work is expected to be completed by July 31, 2024.

Travelers are reminded to be alert for these operations, to obey work zone signs, and to slow down when approaching and traveling through work zones for their safety as well as for the safety of the road crews.
