Lane Restrictions Tonight, Sunday Night on NB I-81 in Cumberland County

Contractor to perform pavement repairs at Exit 48

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that emergency repairs will be performed tonight and Sunday night on northbound Interstate 81 near Carlisle in Cumberland County. A lane restriction will be in place both nights.

Weather permitting, the right lane of northbound I-81 will be closed from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM tonight, Thursday, June 27, and Sunday night, June 30, at Exit 48 (Route 74/York Road) in South Middleton Township near Carlisle. Saw cutting will be performed tonight and asphalt paving will be performed Sunday night.

The northbound I-81 off-ramp at Exit 48 will remain open.

Motorists should be alert and drive with caution through the work zone.

This work is part of a 12.85-mile resurfacing project that consists of milling, base replacement, concrete pavement patching, minor drainage, ADA ramps, paving, traffic counter site repair and other miscellaneous construction on Interstate 81 from Route 15/Enola in East Pennsboro Township, to Route 581/Lambs Gap Road in Hampden Township.

New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company, Inc., of New Enterprise, PA, is the prime contractor on this $24.5 million project.
