Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will set overnight lane closures on I-83 between Exit 19 (Market Street) and Exit 22 (George Street), starting Sunday night, June 23. This work is necessary to repair expansion joints on the mainline bridges over Loucks Mill Road and Market Street.
Work will begin on the northbound I-83 bridge over Loucks Mill Road. Once this area is completed, crews will move to the southbound I-83 bridges over Loucks Mill Road and Market Street.
Weather permitting, motorists should expect overnight lane closures Sunday through Thursday nights from 9 PM to 6 AM. Mainline I-83 bridge repair work is expected to take three to four weeks.
This project also includes the replacement of the Sherman Street bridge and the county-owned bridge carrying Eberts Lane over Mill Creek. Work on these bridges is ongoing. In the meantime, a detour is in place for each bridge.
Deblin, Inc, of Mechanicsburg, PA, is the contractor on this $10,117,734 project.
