Traffic to be Shifted Tomorrow Night at Box Culvert Project on Route 30 in Lancaster County

05/29/2024

Work is part of two-structure contract

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that traffic will be shifted this Thursday night at a box culvert replacement project on Route 30 in Lancaster County. The structure carries Route 30 over Houston Run just east of Brackbill Road in Salisbury Township.

Weather permitting, at 9:00 PM Thursday, May 30, the contractor will begin placing additional barrier and resetting existing barrier to shift traffic onto temporary pavement on the south side of the bridge. This work will be completed by 6:00 AM Friday, May 31. While the barrier work is being performed traffic will be restricted to a single lane with flaggers providing traffic control.

Once this work is complete, traffic will be shifted onto the temporary pavement and two lanes will be open to traffic. A 10-foot lane restriction will remain in place on the bridge.

In addition to the structure replacement, the project includes approach work, guide rail and drainage upgrades, and other miscellaneous construction.

Motorists should be alert and drive with caution through the work zone.

Work on this culvert is expected to be completed by November 24, 2024.

This work is part of a two-structure contract that also includes replacing a box culvert on Route 30 just east of Soudersburg Road in East Lampeter Township, Lancaster County. Work on the second structure is scheduled to begin next spring.

Kinsley Construction, Inc., of York, PA, is the contractor on this project. The total contract cost for both structures is $3,676,000.
