Rescheduled: Traffic Signal Work at Centerville Road and Marietta Avenue in E. Hempfield Township, Lancaster County

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that the temporary traffic signal installation scheduled for tonight at the intersection of Centerville Road and Marietta Avenue (Route 23) in E. Hempfield Township, Lancaster County, has been rescheduled for tomorrow night.

Weather permitting, this work now will be performed from 7:00 PM Tuesday, December 12, to 6:00 AM Wednesday, December 13. During this time the old signals will be removed and the new signals will be installed. 

The new signals will initially be placed on flash. Flaggers will direct traffic through the intersection until the signals are fully activated.

Motorists should be alert and drive with caution through the intersection.

This work is part of the Centerville Road Interchange Improvement project, which consists of structure replacement, Superpave overlay, base replacement, roadway widening, milling, guiderail improvements, drainage improvements, pavement markings, ADA improvements, traffic signal improvements, and other miscellaneous construction. 

The project includes work on Centerville Road from Cornerstone Drive to Marietta Avenue (Route 23), and Marietta Avenue from Centerville Road to Stony Battery Road. The project is primarily located in East Hempfield Township, though the section from Cornerstone Drive to Columbia Avenue is in Manor Township.

JD Eckman, Inc., of Atglen, PA is the prime contractor on this $36.3 million project. Work is expected to be completed by July 22, 2025.
