07/26/2024

Philadelphia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that bridge repairs are planned next week on U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) in Philadelphia under a $100.6 million project to rehabilitate the Wayne Junction Viaduct over the SEPTA tracks and Nicetown neighborhood in Philadelphia.

  • Monday, July 29, through Thursday, August 1, from 6:00 PM to 5:30 AM the following morning, periodic single and double lane closures are planned on southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) between Henry Avenue and Interstate 76. The ramp from southbound U.S. 1 to westbound Interstate 76 will also close at this time. Motorists will detour east on I-76, exit at Montgomery Avenue, then take the ramp to westbound I-76.
  • Monday, July 29, through Thursday, August 1, from 8:00 PM to 11:30 AM the following morning, periodic single and double lane closures are planned on northbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) between I-76 and Henry Avenue.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because significant backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
