Philadelphia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction will reduce southbound Columbus Boulevard to a single lane at Penn's Landing for approximately one year beginning next week, under the $329 million Interstate 95 CAP project to replace and expand the covered area over the interstate in Center City Philadelphia.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:
The lane closures will allow crews to relocate a sewer line and construct foundations for a pier that will support the extension of the new covered area over I-95 and Columbus Boulevard.
Northbound Columbus Boulevard is currently reduced to two lanes weekdays between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM for utility construction at that same location.
Motorists are advised that the new restriction will create significant backups and delays on southbound Columbus Boulevard that may also impact southbound Delaware Avenue approaching Penn's Landing.
Additional project details, construction updates, project detours and other information on PennDOT's I-95 CAP project are available at www.95revive.com.
