King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction activities will continue at night on Interstate 476 under two separate projects to improve travel and safety on the interstate, the associated on-and-off ramps, and bridges in Delaware and Montgomery counties.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:
- Sunday, June 30, through Tuesday, July 2, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure will be in place on various sections on northbound and southbound I-476 between the I-76 (Philadelphia/Valley Forge) and the Route 3 (West Chester Pike) interchanges in West Conshohocken Borough and Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County, and Radnor, Haverford, and Marple townships, Delaware County, for guiderail and pavement repair.
- Tuesday, July 2, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure is scheduled on northbound I-476 at the MacDade Boulevard Interchange in Ridley Township, Delaware County, for ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) installation.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because significant backups and delays may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
The guiderail and pavement repairs are part of a $63.7 million project to resurface, repair and improve nearly 17 miles of the interstate from I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) in West Conshohocken Borough, Montgomery County, to I-95 in Ridley Township, Delaware County.
The ITS installation is part of a $16.2 million project to improve travel and safety on MacDade Boulevard and at the northbound I-476 and MacDade Boulevard Interchange in Ridley Township, Delaware County.
