King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction will occur next week on U.S. 422 under two improvement projects in Montgomery County.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:
- Sunday, April 7, through late September, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a single lane closure will be in place Sundays through Thursdays on eastbound U.S. 422 between the Oaks (Egypt Road) and Bridgeport/Valley Forge (Route 23) interchanges in Upper Providence and Lower Providence townships for sawcutting and concrete patching.
- Monday, April 8, through Thursday, April 11, from 5:00 AM to 2:00 PM, a single lane closure will be in place on westbound U.S. 422 between Evergreen Road and Armand Hammer Boulevard for shoulder reconstruction.
- Monday, April 8, through Thursday, April 11, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure will be in place on eastbound U.S. 422 between Keim Street and Evergreen Road for shoulder reconstruction and clearing.
- Monday, April 8, through Thursday, April 11, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, intermittent 15-minute traffic stoppages and traffic paces will take place on eastbound and westbound U.S. 422 between Evergreen Road and Armand Hammer Boulevard for controlled blasting.
In addition, a lane closure will be in place on Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) between Country Club Road and Valley Creek Road in Schuylkill Township, Chester County, on Monday, April 8, through Thursday, April 11, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM for fiber optic line installation.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
The shoulder reconstruction, blasting, clearing and fiber optic installations are part of an $83.6 million project to reconstruct and improve U.S. 422 and replace two bridges between the Sanatoga Interchange and Porter Road.
The sawcutting and concrete patching are part of a $6.9 million project to rehabilitate pavement on eastbound U.S. 422 between the Route 29/Phoenixville and Route 363/Trooper Road interchanges.
