King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that Route 29 (Morehall Road) is closed and detoured in both directions between General Warren Boulevard/Atwater Drive and Great Valley Parkway for sinkhole and pipe repair in East Whiteland Township, Chester County.
A lane closure took place in both directions on Route 29 (Morehall Road) earlier today, following the discovery of pipe damage and pavement settlement.
During the closure, northbound and southbound Route 29 (Morehall Road) motorist are directed to use Phoenixville Pike, Route 401 (Conestoga Road), and Swedesford Road. Access will remain for Pennsylvania Turnpike entrance.
Route 29 (Morehall Road) will remain closed until PennDOT engineers can further assess the extent of the damage and develop a plan to fully repair and safely reopen the highway.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because slowdowns will occur. All activities are weather dependent.
Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles, including color-coded winter conditions, by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.
