King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that regional bridge repairs will continue next week on Interstate 95 and the Girard Point Bridge in Philadelphia and Interstate 295 in Bucks County under a $44.6 million bridge improvement project to perform high-priority repairs on several structures on interstates in Philadelphia, Delaware and Bucks counties.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:
- Monday, June 5, and Tuesday, June 6, from 7:30 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a single lane closure is scheduled on eastbound and/or westbound I-295 between the Route 413 (Bristol) and Business U.S. 1/Route 413 (Penndel/Levittown) interchanges in Bristol and Middletown townships for line striping;
- Wednesday, June 7, from 7:30 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, lane closures are scheduled on the northbound deck on the I-95 Girard Point Bridge between Penrose Avenue (Route 291) and Broad Street (Route 611) for bridge repair; and
- Thursday, June 8, from 7:30 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, lane closures will be in place on the ramp from Aramingo Avenue to southbound I-95 between the Bridge Street/Harbison Avenue (Exit 27) and Betsy Ross Bridge (Exit 26) interchanges for expansion joint repair on southbound I-95.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
Repairs to the structures under this project include replacing rocker bearings, frozen sliding plate bearings and deck expansion joints; cleaning and painting steel beams; repairing substructure concrete; and reconstructing bearing pedestals.
The project also includes the replacement of high mast light poles along the I-95 corridor in Philadelphia and Delaware counties.
Driscoll Construction Company, Inc. of Philadelphia is the general contractor on the project, which is financed with 100% federal funds.
