Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) reminded drivers it will complete the remaining work on its South Atherton Street (Route 3014) project stretching from Curtin Road to just north of Westerly Parkway in State College during daylight hours with flaggers directing vehicle and pedestrian traffic. PennDOT expects work on the project to wrap by the first week of November.
On Monday, October 21, and Tuesday, October 22, the contractor will seal newly poured concrete sidewalks and ADA-compliant curb ramps between Blue Course Drive and College Avenue. The contractor will implement lane closures while completing this work.
Additionally, crews will continue working on highway lighting, traffic signal upgrades, and roadside planting throughout the work zone for the entire week. Traffic control will consist of lane closures in the impacted areas. These closures may result in delays, so PennDOT urges drivers to build extra time into their travel schedules.
PennDOT expects all remaining work to wrap up by the first week of November. All work is weather-dependent.
PennDOT posts updates and detour information on the Atherton Street project page weekly and encourages drivers to visit the page at www.penndot.pa.gov/AthertonStreet.
Overall work on the project includes roadway reconstruction, drainage improvements that include pipes and inlets, water and sewer lines, concrete curbing, sidewalks and detectable warning surfaces, pavement markings, traffic signals and supports, and miscellaneous items. HRI, Inc. of State College is the contractor on this $30.7 million project.
