Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that it reopened the "Golden Rod" bridge spanning Clearfield Creek along Route 322 in Lawrence Township, Clearfield County, earlier today. PennDOT reduced traffic at the bridge to a single lane early in June for a preservation project that improved the structure's condition rating from "fair" to "good" while improving the ride quality for traffic crossing the structure.

The temporary traffic signals that enforced an alternating traffic pattern throughout the summer and fall have been removed. Crews will return during the 2024 construction season to complete barrier repairs, final paving, and pavement marking. PennDOT will issue an update detailing traffic control measures before crews return in 2024.

Overall work on the bridge included repairs to the structural steel, bridge railing, and barrier, work to the strip seals, and applying the latex-modified wearing surface. Additional work includes approach paving, curb replacements, drainage improvements, and guide rail installation. HRI, Inc. of State College is the contractor on this $1.2 million project.
