Railroad Crossing Maintenance Begins Monday in Fayette County

Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing that portions of Routes 819, 1020, and 1041 are scheduled to close over the next three weeks in Fayette County. Crews from CSX or Hennessey & Company, Inc. will be maintaining or replacing railroad crossings from 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM on the following dates and associated locations. Posted detours will be in place.

Monday, July 22 - Friday, July 26 in Dawson Borough:        

  • Closed:  Route 819 (Laughlin Street) between Route 1041 (River Road) and Railroad Street – for crossing replacement by CSX.
  • Detour:  Route 819 (Dawson Scottdale Road, Broadway Avenue, Porter Avenue, Mt. Pleasant Scottdale Road) to Route 119 (Connellsville New Stanton Road, Memorial Boulevard) to Route 201 (Vanderbilt Road) to Route 819 (Main Street, Liberty Street). 

Friday, July 26 - Wednesday, July 31 in North Union Township:

  • Closed:  Route 1020 (North Gallatin Avenue Extension) between Water Street and Bailey Avenue – for crossing replacement by Hennessey & Company, Inc.
  • Detour:  Hogsett Lane to Washington Street to Main Street to Oliver Road to Route 1051 (Bute Road) to Route 1020 (North Gallatin Avenue). 

Monday, July 29 - Friday, August 2 in Lower Tyrone Township:

  • Closed:  Route 1041 (River Road) between Poplar Alley and River Road – for crossing maintenance by CSX.
  • Detour:  Route 1041 (River Road, School Road) to Route 1002 (Banning Road) to Route 819 (Dawson Scottdale Road, Railroad Street, Laughlin Street) to Route 1041 (River Road). 

Friday, August 2 - Wednesday, August 7 in North Union Township:

  • Closed:  Route 1020 (Shady Grove Road) between Percy Lane and Penn Avenue – for crossing replacement by Hennessey & Company, Inc.
  • Detour:  Route 1055 (Morgan Station Road) to Youngstown Road to Route 1020 (Shady Grove Road).
