Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing that single-lane restrictions on Interstate 79 are scheduled to begin tonight Monday, July 15, between Exit 38 (I-70 West, Wheeling, WV) in South Strabane Township and Exit 41 (Race Track Road) in Chartiers Township, Washington County. All work depends on weather and operations.
Nightly single-lane restrictions will be in place from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM Monday, July 15 through Friday, July 19.
Southbound single-lane restrictions will be in place from 7:00 PM Saturday, July 20 until 3:00 PM Tuesday, July 23.
Crews from Swank Construction will be performing resurfacing and concrete rehabilitation along this 2.5-mile span of I-79 in southwestern Pennsylvania -- a $5M infrastructure preservation investment.
Work includes concrete patching, dowel retrofit, full depth corner repair, and spall repair of mainline concrete. There will be improvements made to drainage facilities and earth mounds placed between north and southbound travel lanes. Intelligent transportation systems (ITS) will be updated and connected to the regional network. Bridge decks will be repaired, and bridge seals will be replaced. New signing, delineation, and guide rail will be installed on the mainline of I-79. Completion is expected in early November.
Remain alert and follow the posted signs and speed limits. Safety is everyone's responsibility.
