PennDOT’s Westmoreland County Maintenance Update -- Week of July 1, 2024

​Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Westmoreland County Maintenance Manager Dave Forkey has announced the following tentative work plan for the week of July 1. All maintenance activities are conducted depending on weather and operations.

Motorists can anticipate detours, flaggers, moving operations, and/or single-lane restrictions. Please drive with caution through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring the use of headlights. Safety is everyone's responsibility.

Box culvert replacement:

  • Route 1005 (Shannon Creek Road) in Saint Clair Township.

Road closed. Posted detour:

    • Route 1005 (Shannon Creek Road). 

    • Route 711 (Ligonier Street).

Patching:

  • Route 30 and various routes countywide.

Paving:

  • Route 3025 (Mars Hill Road) in Sewickley Township.

Pipe flushing:

  • Route 2012 (Depot Street) in Hempfield Township.

  • Route 3021 (Webster Hollow Road) in Rostraver Township.

  • Route 3021 (Salem Church Road) in Rostraver Township.

  • Route 3029 (Jacobs Creek Road) in South Huntingdon Township.

  • Route 3061 (Bells Mills Road) in South Huntingdon Township.

  • Route 3016 (Middletown Road) in Hempfield Township.

Pipe installation:

  • Route 1034 (Athena Drive) in Salem Township.

Road closed. Posted detour:

  • Route 1034 (Athena Drive). 

  • Route 1061 (Trees Mill Road). 

  • Route 22 (William Penn Highway). 

  • Route 66 (Sheridan Road).

  • Greensburg/Freeport Street. 

Pipe replacement:

  • Route 981 in the City of Latrobe.

Seal coating:

  • Various routes in Donegal Township.

Shoulder cutting:

  • Route 3008 (Fellsburg Church Road) in Rostraver Township.

  • Various routes in Rostraver Township.

Side dozing:

  •  Route 31 (Donegal Road, Chestnut Ridge Road, Summit Road) in Donegal Township.

Slide repair:

  • Route 1067 (Loughner Road) in Fairfield Township.

Sweeping:

  • Various routes in Donegal Township.

Litter crews will be picking litter on various routes throughout the county as weather and other activities permit.

Signs will be updated, downed signs will be replaced, and work orders will be addressed on various state routes throughout the county.

PennDOT has a toll-free number for residents to call to report any road maintenance concern.  This number can also be utilized to report locations of dead deer on state highways. The number is 1.800.FIX ROAD (1.800.349.7623). 

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.
