PennDOT's Westmoreland County Maintenance Update -- Week of June 24, 2024

​Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Westmoreland County Maintenance Manager Dave Forkey has announced the following tentative work plan for the week of June 24, 2024. All maintenance activities are conducted depending on weather and operations.

Motorists can anticipate detours, flaggers, moving operations, and/or single-lane restrictions. Please drive with caution through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring the use of headlights. Safety is everyone's responsibility.

Box culvert replacement:

  • Route 1005 (Shannon Creek Road) in Saint Clair Township. 

Concrete repair:

  • Route 22 (William Penn Highway) in Murrysville. 

Inlet cleaning:

  • Route 31 (West Newton-Ruffsdale Road) in various townships.
  • Route 31 (Ruffsdale-Mount Pleasant Road) in various townships.
  • Route 119 (Connellsville-New Stanton Road) in various townships.
  • Route 70 in various townships.
  • Route 3008 (Willowbrook Road) in Rostraver Township. 

Inlet repair:

  • Route 3008 (Willowbrook Road) in Rostraver Township. 

Patchco:

  • Various routes countywide. 

Pavement restoration:

  • Route 3037 (Waltz Mill Road) in Sewickley Township.
  • Route 3010 (Pittsburgh Pike) in South Huntingdon Township.
  • Route 3011 (Iron City Hill Road) in Rostraver Township.
  • Route 3021 (Webster Hollow Road) in Rostraver Township. 

Paving:

  • Route 3025 (Mars Hill Road) in Sewickley Township. 

Pipe installation:

  • Route 1034 (Athena Drive) in Salem Township.

 Seal coating:

  • Route 2005 (Clay Pike Road) in Donegal Township. 

Shoulder cutting:

  • Route 819 (Armbrust Hecla Road) in Mount Pleasant Township.

 Shoulder stabilization:

  • Route 3037 (Main Street) in Madison Borough.
  • Route 3016 (Herminie Road) in Madison Borough. 

Side dozing:

  • Various routes in Donegal and Ligonier townships. 

Slide repair:

  • Route 1067 (Loughner Road) in Fairfield Township. 

Sweeping:

  • Various routes in Donegal Township. 

Litter crews will be picking litter on various routes throughout the county as weather and other activities permit.

Signs will be updated, downed signs will be replaced, and work orders will be addressed on various state routes throughout the county.

PennDOT has a toll-free number for residents to call to report any road maintenance concern.  This number can also be utilized to report locations of dead deer on state highways.  The number is 1.800.FIX ROAD (1.800.349.7623). 

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.
