Bridge Cleanings and Sealings Begin Monday in Fayette County

Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing that short-term bridge closures are scheduled to begin Monday, June 24, at five locations in Franklin, Jefferson, and Redstone townships, Fayette County.

JF Shea Construction Inc. will be cleaning and sealing the bridges' decks as part of a $206K infrastructure preservation project for 19 bridges located in Fayette, Washington, and Westmoreland counties.

Closures may last up to 72 hours from Monday, June 24 through late July at the following superstructures, with posted detours. All work depends on weather and operations.

Franklin Township:

1.    ​Route 4028 (Tippecanoe Road) between Route 4011 (Laureldale Road) and Crabapple Road.

​Detour:  Route 4007 (Rowes Run Road), Route 4026 (Rowes Run Smock Road), Route 4016 (Main Street, Smock Road), Route 51 (Pittsburgh Road).

Jefferson Township/Redstone Township:

2.    ​Route 4005 (New Hill Road) between Cottage Avenue and Route 4028 (Grindstone Road).

​Detour:  Route 4005 (Grindstone Road), Route 4036 (Central School Road), Route 4034 (Perry Road), Route 4011 (Laureldale Road), Route 4028 (Grindstone Road).

3.    Route 4028 (Grindstone Road) between Route 4007 (Rowes Run Road) and Route 4011 (Laureldale Road).

​Detour:  Route 4007 (Rowes Run Road), Route 4026 (Rowes Run Smock Road), Route 4016 (Main Street, Smock Road), Route 51 (Pittsburgh Road), Route 4028 (Tippecanoe Road).

Redstone Township:

4.    Route 4028 (Grindstone Road) between Sphar Lane and Route 4007 (Rowes Run Road).

​Detour:  Route 4026 (Fords Hill Road), Route 4007 (Rowes Run Road).

5.    Route 4016 (Royal Road) between Route 4018 (Royal Road Extension) and Center Gas Road.

​​Detour:  Route 4018 (Royal Road Extension), Route 40 (National Pike), Route 4010/4009/4014 (Pleasantview Smock Road).

Remain alert and follow the posted signs and speed limits. Safety is everyone's responsibility.
