District 12 Unveils Emergency Slide Repairs Webpage

05/16/2024

Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 invites the public to view its new webpage dedicated to the emergency slide repairs being undertaken in Greene and Washington counties.

Between April 1 and 5, approximately five inches of rain fell across southwestern Pennsylvania. Landslides occurred in several locations due to the resulting conditions, requiring major repairs beyond the scope of the district's maintenance department forces' capabilities.

Five slides have been identified as having the greatest impact on commerce and safety in the event of a lane restriction or full road closure. The district will be utilizing emergency procedures to repair those areas on Routes 19 and 4002 in Greene County, and on Routes 1010, 1087 and 3043 in Washington County.

Details can be found by going to PennDOT's website (www.penndot.gov) and clicking Regional Offices at the top right of the screen. From there, select “12" on the map of Pennsylvania, then Design and Construction Projects under the District Links on the right side of the page. Click the Greene County or Washington County tile, then Emergency Slide Repairs.

Work has begun in Greene County and will commence in Washington County as soon as possible. Press releases are issued in advance, and work is anticipated to last through the summer.
