Route 4003 McKnight Road Ramp Closures Begins Monday in Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh, PA – PennDOT District 11 is announcing a ramp closure on McKnight Road (Route 4003) in the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County will begin Monday, September 30 weather permitting.

Starting 8 a.m. Monday, the southbound Nelson Run Road ramp to southbound McKnight Road will undergo an around-the-clock closure continuously through mid-October. Crews will conduct concrete patching work on the ramp. Traffic will be detoured.

  • Continue southbound on Nelson Run Road
  • Turn left onto Ivory Avenue
  • Turn right onto Evergreen Road
  • Follow Evergreen Road to McKnight Road
  • End detour

 

The work is part of the $26.99 million McKnight Road improvement project. Work will include bridge and culvert preservation, milling and paving, base repairs, drainage upgrades and repairs, pipe cleaning, guide rail, signal, and ADA ramp upgrades, waterline replacement, concrete mountable curb replacement and new signage and pavement markings between Venture Street and Perrymont Road, including the Babcock Boulevard/Evergreen Road ramps. Before work concludes in the spring of 2025, restrictions will also include a 12-day closure of the Nelson Run Road interchange, two weekend closures at the Venture Street intersection, and several overnight ramp closures for paving operations and structure repairs. The prime contractor is Lindy Paving, Inc.
