06/24/2024

Indiana, PA – PennDOT is alerting motorists to expect evening delays as crews remove beams from the Lions Road Bridge as part of the Route 422 Project in Butler, Franklin and Connoquenessing Townships, Butler County.

Cranes will be removing beams from the existing structure in preparation for the new construction.  Because of this, motorists will experience delays on Route 422 on June 26, 2024, 11 PM to 5 AM.  Message boards are posted along Route 422 to alert motorists.  In the event of inclement weather, the work will occur on June 27, 2024. Motorists should use caution in the area or find alternate routes.

Lions Road was closed on June 18 and will remain closed through the end of August as the bridge is raised.  To detour, motorists will travel Route 3036/New Castle Road to Route 3031/North Eberhart Road to Route 68 to Route 3007/South Benbrook Road.

The project includes patching, updating drainage and guide rail, and replacing the concrete median barrier.  Also included is the paving of the Route 8008 ramps (Route 356 interchange) and rehabilitation of the structure on Lions Road (Route 3031).

Contractor, Lindy Paving of New Galilee, PA, will be completing this $10 million project that will conclude October 11, 2024.
