The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is alerting drivers of a new traffic signal being installed in Barkeyville Borough, Venango County.
The signal will control both northbound and southbound traffic on Route 8 as well as traffic on the off ramp for Interstate 80 eastbound.
To alert drivers to the traffic pattern change, the system will be put into flashing mode starting Monday, November 4, 2024. The signal will flash yellow for Route 8 and red for the I-80 off ramp. The lights are expected to be fully operational on its regular cycle starting on November 12, 2024.
The signal was deemed necessary due to ongoing development in the borough and the expected increase in traffic at the ramp, and, therefore, was funded by a private developer. It will be maintained by Barkeyville Borough.
