Paving Project on Route 322 in Cranberry and Rockland Townships, Venango County to Start Next Week

06/17/2024

A $3 million resurfacing project that will give motorists a smoother ride on nearly 6 miles of Route 322 in Venango County is scheduled to start later this month.

The project will include paving of 5.8 miles of roadway from the intersection of Whippoorwill Road in Cranberry Township to Clarion County line in Rockland Township. Work will also include milling, drainage, guide rail updates, and paint markings.

Construction is expected to begin June 24, 2024, weather permitting, and is expected to be completed by November 2024.

Work will require lane restrictions with traffic controlled by flaggers. Drivers should be alert for traffic pattern shifts and anticipate travel delays during active work hours.

The contractor is Shields Asphalt of Cranberry, PA. The contract cost is $2,950,195.96, which is to be paid with 80 percent federal funds and 20 percent state funds.

This year PennDOT's Northwest Region expects to do work on more than 100 projects. To see a full listing of all the anticipated work, check out the 2024 Construction Book located under the Resources tab online at www.penndot.pa.gov/District1.
