Blaise Bucha Named New Maintenance Manager for PennDOT's Venango County Office

06/06/2024

Blaise Bucha has been appointed the Senior Highway Maintenance Manager for Venango County, which is part of the northwest District 1 region of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).

In his new role, Bucha will manage a $15 million annual budget and 88 employees. He will oversee winter services and routine transportation preservation activities for more than 200 bridges and over 500 miles of state-owned roadway, including surface treatments, drainage cleaning, bridge washing, sign replacements, and other cycle maintenance work.

Bucha is a 2014 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where he earned a degree in Civil Engineering. He started his career with CONSOL Energy before joining PennDOT in 2016 as a Civil Engineer Trainee in the Construction Unit. In August 2021, he was appointed a Senior Civil Engineer in the Construction Unit. He earned his professional engineer license in 2022. For the past three years along with his regular duties in construction, Bucha has assisted with county maintenance management during winter operations.

“Blaise comes into this position with a strong background of project management on the construction side of transportation complimented by several winter seasons of experience in the challenges that face our maintenance crews," said Aaron Fox, Assistance District Executive - Maintenance. “That combined skillset will be an asset for our Venango County office, which has been without a permanent manager since early 2023."

Bucha resides in Grove City. He enjoys sailing, jazz drumming, and Burger King.

He succeeds Acting County Manager David Servin, who will return to his role as Assistant County Manager alongside coworkers Jim Eiler and Joe Rogers. Fellow District 1 employees Doug Fry and Joshua Montgomery also assisted during the transition period, filling in as the Acting County Manager during separate terms throughout the past 15 months.
