Paving Project to Start Soon in City of Franklin, Venango County

06/03/2024

A $300,000 resurfacing project that will give motorists a smoother ride on eight roadways throughout the City of Franklin, Venango County is scheduled to start next week.

The project will include paving sections of Wintergreen Drive, Lincoln Street, Tyler Street, Madison Street, Pinoak Drive, Taylor Street, Washington Street, and Woodland Drive.

Paving of these city-owned streets is being funded through the Local Federal Aid Route Program (LFAR), which are federal funds available through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT). The City of Franklin is a partner for this project as a sponsor.

Work will also include minor drainage improvements, seeding, and the installation of a 24-foot stop bar.

Construction is expected to begin June 10, weather permitting, and is expected to be completed by October 2024.

Motorists may encounter lane restrictions with traffic controlled by flaggers. Drivers should be alert for traffic pattern shifts and lane restrictions and should anticipate travel delays during active work hours.

The contractor is IA Construction Corporation of Franklin, PA. The contract cost is $297,777, which is to be paid entirely with federal funds.

This year PennDOT's Northwest Region excepts to do work on more than 100 projects. To see a full listing of all the anticipated work, check out the 2024 Construction Book located under the Resources tab online at www.penndot.pa.gov/District1.

PennDOT urges motorists to slow down when driving in work zones, and also to be alert to changing conditions, avoid distractions and to pay attention to signs and flaggers. Drive responsibly in work zones for your safety and the safety of the workers.
