Washington Lane Corridor Safety Improvements
Project Location
Overview
This proposed project includes pedestrian and traffic signal improvements at select intersections along the Washington Lane corridor. The work will occur at the following intersections:
- Washington Lane and Stenton Avenue
- Washington Lane and Mansfield Avenue
- Washington Lane and Rodney Avenue
- Washington Lane and Lowber Avenue
- Washington Lane and Woolston Avenue
- Washington Lane and Thouron Avenue
- Washington Lane and Limekiln Pike
- Washington Lane and Ogontz Avenue
- Washington Lane and Cheltenham Avenue
- Washington Lane at 76th Street/Blair Road
The proposed work includes:
- Installing retroreflective backplates on traffic signal mast arms.
- Adding pedestrian countdown timers at signalized intersections.
- Coordinating signals along Washington Lane to improve operations (removing arterials).
- Improving visibility of traffic signal displays (instead of the pedestal-mast arm text as many side streets still have pedestals and not overhead displays).
- Constructing curb bump-outs at select locations.
- Constructing a flashing beacon and raised crosswalk at 76th Street/Blair Road.
