Concord Rd./Valleybrooke Rd./Foulk Rd. Intersection Improvements
Project Location
Overview
The project involves reconfiguring two intersections spaced approximately 150 feet apart along Concord Road. The western intersection is a T-intersection consisting of Concord Road on the eastern and western approaches and Foulk Road on the southern approach. The eastern four-way intersection consists of Concord Road on the eastern and western approaches, Valleybrooke Road on the northern approach, and Chelsea Road on the southern approach. The proposed project is anticipated to replace the existing configuration with a 5-legged roundabout.
The proposed scope of work includes:
- Replace the intersections with a single modern roundabout and full-depth roadway reconstruction within the roundabout.
- Full-depth reconstruction of the existing pavement is proposed to extend from the intersection on all approaches as indicated below:
- Concord Road–approximately 400 feet west of Foulk Road
- Concord Road–approximately 500 feet east of Chelsea Road
- Foulk Road–approximately 400 feet from the intersection
- Valleybrooke Road–approximately 400 feet from the intersection
- Chelsea Road–approximately 600 feet from the intersection
- Relocate existing utility poles and underground utilities
- Install roundabout lighting
- Install drainage and stormwater management facilities
It is anticipated that the project will be built utilizing partial detours and phased construction. Access to residences and local properties will be maintained throughout construction.
Permanent right-of-way acquisition will be required. Temporary construction easements will be required for contractor access during construction.
The project includes federal and state funding.
