Concord Road and Bridgewater Road Intersection Improvement
Project Location
Overview
The proposed project includes intersection improvements at the Concord Road/Bridgewater Road intersection consisting of roadway paving, revised turn lane configurations, and updated traffic signal equipment. The project will also include drainage improvements, new signing and pavement markings, and pedestrian facility upgrades.
The purpose of the project is to improve safety, mobility, and meet regional and local traffic needs by reducing delays/congestion while accommodating pedestrian traffic at Concord Road (SR 3007)/Bridgewater Road (SR 3018/T-407).
The needs for this project include:
- Safety: The intersection of Bridgewater Road and Concord Road has a crash rate that is approximately 1.5 times the statewide average for similar facilities.
- Facility Deficiencies: Pedestrian accommodations are incomplete and lack connectivity while portions of existing sidewalks are in poor condition.
- Congestion: Vehicle turning movements at the intersection cause delays in both AM and PM peak hours. In the 2050 No-Build condition, the westbound through movement and the eastbound left turn are anticipated to operate with approximately 100 seconds of delay in the PM peak hour. The eastbound left-turn movement is anticipated to operate with approximately 100 seconds of delay in the AM peak hour and 180 seconds of delay in the PM peak hour.
