Interstate 84 Summit Woods Drainage Improvement Project
Project Overview
The I-84 Summit Woods project involves improvements to the stormwater drainage system in the vicinity of Summit Woods Road near I-84 in Roaring Brook Township, Lackawanna County. The project proposes to repair an existing corrugated metal pipe with a spray lining, as well as stabilize grades under the two I-84 mainline bridges using a random stone slope wall. No additional roadway improvements are anticipated with this project. New pavement markings will be provided throughout the project limits. Utility and right-of-way conflicts are not anticipated for this project and there will be no impact to the adjacent D&L Railroad nor Roaring Brook.
No significant historical or cultural resources are present within the project site. Wetlands present within the project limits and other environmentally sensitive resources will not be affected by the project.
The repairs are expected to be constructed with no significant impact to traffic on Summit Hill Road and access will be maintained to the Summit Woods development at all times during construction. Short-term lane shifts may be necessary for equipment access. Construction is expected to be completed in the Fall of 2024.
