Route 21 Roy E. Furman Highway Tree Trimming Underway in Greene County

11/22/2023

Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing winter tree trimming along Route 21 (Roy E. Furman Highway) between Route 2026 (Rolling Meadows Road) in Jefferson Township and Route 19 (Mount Morris Road) in Franklin Township, Greene County.

Pruning is currently underway and scheduled through early April 2024 depending on weather and operations. Daylight shoulder closures will be in place in both directions throughout the winter.

Daylight single-lane restrictions with flagging may occur as needed beginning in early December:

  • 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM between Route 2026 (Rolling Meadows Road) and Sheetz Drive.
  • 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM between Sheetz Drive and Route 19 (Mount Morris Road).

This work is part of the $4.9 million Route 21 East of Waynesburg concrete patching project performed by Gulisek Construction. The scope includes concrete patching, dowel retrofit, cross stitching, spall and mountable curb repair, milling and resurfacing, high friction surface treatment, inlet tops replacement, guide rail, signal upgrades, delineation, and signing. The full job – which will require long-term single-lane restrictions – is anticipated to begin in April and continue through October 2024.
