Zuck Road Improvement Project
Project Overview
The focus of this multi-year project is resurfacing the entire two-mile stretch of Zuck Road from Zimmerly Road (Route 4012) to West 26th Street (Route 20) in Millcreek Township, Erie County.
This year, work will include widening at the intersection with 32nd Street where left turn lanes will be added for northbound and southbound traffic, as well as the construction of the remaining ADA-compliant curb ramps.
Work in 2023 included milling and overlay of the existing roadway, culvert replacement, drainage improvements, signage, and pavement markings. Safety improvements will also be made at various intersections throughout the project area, including new traffic signal equipment, signal retiming, and left turn lanes throughout the corridor, including the following:
- Widening at the intersection with 32nd Street where left turn lanes will be added for northbound and southbound traffic;
- Addition of a northbound lane on Zuck Road at W. 26th Street, which will allow dedicated lanes for both left and right turns;
- Culvert replacement just south of Route 20 (West 26th Street);
- New controllers and video detection at all existing traffic signals;
- New signals, audible push buttons, and pedestrian signal heads will be installed at W. Grandview and 32nd streets;
- New signals with updates to the existing pedestrian signals will be done at 38th and 26th streets; and
- Upgrades to the existing pedestrian signals will be done at Village Commons Drive and W. 38th Street.
Daylight lane closures will be used during portions of the work and traffic will be controlled by flaggers.
