Crash database gets facelift to improve user experience

Safety on our roadways continues to be one of our primary focuses here at PennDOT.
Recent enhancements to our Pennsylvania Crash Information Tool, or PCIT, has made it easier for the safety stakeholders in the state to plan safety improvements. Users can select from a variety of pre-defined criteria to search 20 years of crash data. This data could be viewed as a table or chart for some time now but one of the more recent enhancements now allows the user to map the criteria they selected.
If you are a long-time user, you will have seen the user interface was given a face lift to improve the overall user experience. Along with this modernization came PCIT’s most recent update with increased mapping support that now lets the user visually select an area on the map and build a map with the desired data. So now PCIT can accommodate both data miners that are used to dealing with databases as well as those who think visually.
